Should Music Be Free?

Remember making a cassette copy of a Van Halen album, so that your buddy didn't have to buy it? That was copyright infringement, piracy.

Since the Internet came along, music has become something that is freely shared, not between friends, but between total strangers, millions of times each day.

Are there that many people in the world that think that stealing is ok? Perhaps it's just that they don't think that sharing music that's been written, recorded, and copyrighted by others, is theft?

With all of this blatant theft on, it begs the question, 'should music be free?'
