How do you sound?

A good question because you ask someone else & you might get a surprising answer. Whenever your playing live the people on the front row hear it differently than those in the back of the hall. It's near impossible to sound good all the way to the back. It is a problem because when you get loud enough for the people in the back to hear you then it's usually too loud in front. What's the solution?
